Documentation System Audit
A structured review of how your engineers publish and find technical writing, ending in a restructuring plan with ownership and review cadence.
Who this is for
Engineering managers, staff engineers, and documentation leads whose teams maintain more than a handful of guides — and who keep answering the same questions in chat because the written answers are hard to find or out of date.
Result
You receive a written audit of your current documentation system, a proposed information architecture, ownership recommendations, and a sequenced cleanup plan. The goal is fewer interrupted engineers and clearer sources of truth — not a full rewrite overnight.
What is included
- Stakeholder interviews (typically 4–6 people)
- Inventory of public and internal developer-facing pages
- Mapping of duplicate topics, orphan pages, and broken cross-links
- Recommendation for section hierarchy, templates, and naming conventions
- Draft ownership matrix and review cadence
- Handoff workshop with your maintainers
What is excluded
- Day-to-day content writing of every page (available separately)
- Building or licensing a documentation platform product
- Legal or compliance certification of published materials
Provider & delivery
Sessions are led by Toolkit Maple consultants based in Taipei. Work may be remote across Taiwan or held at Office 7, 38 Test Avenue, Taipei 00000 when teams prefer whiteboard sessions.
Process
- Discovery call — clarify the documentation surface and constraints.
- Access & reading week — review repositories, wiki spaces, and recent support threads.
- Working sessions — validate findings with writers and maintainers.
- Plan delivery — present architecture options and a phased cleanup sequence.
Preparation
Please share read access to the relevant documentation spaces and nominate one internal contact who can schedule interviewees. If parts of the corpus are confidential, we work from exports you approve.
Constraints
We do not promise a page-count reduction number before the inventory. Scope depends on how many systems hold “truth” today. Multi-language corpora (English + Traditional Chinese) extend the timeline.
Pricing basis
Fixed project fee starting at TWD 96,000 for a focused product/API documentation surface. Larger multi-team knowledge bases are quoted after the discovery call. See Rates for related consultations.
